Before we arrived in Mexico, we both knew that we wanted to visit Xcaret. The pictures we'd seen were breathtaking so on our first day in Cancun we booked our day trip.
We set off first thing in the morning. How cool is the bus that took us there?!
We were both pretty excited about our selfie sticks. Can you tell? Lol
Xcaret had everything ranging from natural eco pools, to beaches, to restaurants and bars. There was a bloody Aquarium in there too!
Sharks!
The natural pool looked so amazing we HAD to take a dip.
Strike a pose
This is probably my favourite picture and summed us up. Selfie whores.
A little message for my little bro :-)
This was a really pretty cemetery we came across at the park. It was so colourful and bright - a nice contrast to the very grey cemetery's in the UK.
After we'd finished exploring we had a spot to eat and some frozen strawberry daquiri's before heading off to the outdoor theatre to watch "Xcaret Mexico Espectacular" which took us on a wonderful journey of the History of Mexico with songs, dancing, acting, fire... it was phenomenal. My iPhone had died by this point so I don't have any pics...sorry!
I would definitely recommend this day trip to anyone visiting Cancun.
One more Cancun post to come!
P.S. M has been calling me everyday since he left Vegas *swoons*

Cancun is so bloody pretty. It was such a contrast to Vegas which is beautiful in it's glitzy glamorous man-made kind of way. Cancun is just naturally stunning with it's huge palm trees, crystal turquoise sea, bright white sand, lagoons...
When we booked our holiday to Vegas, we started to think... well after travelling 10 hours plus to get to the states, why don't we go somewhere from there, kill 2 birds with 1 stone? A few days later we had a multi-centre holiday booked; Vegas to Cancun!
We booked into the Omni Cancun Resort which is a small hotel at the end of the Hotel Zone. It was far from luxury and felt even less so after spending time at the grand Aria hotel in Vegas. Aria made this hotel feel budget and slightly third world.
If I were to go back to Cancun, I'd definitely try and stay at the Riu or Iberostar. A little touch of luxury makes all the difference sometimes...
Yay, we found another jacuzzi to obsess over!
Oh look, there was another jacuzzi, and it had a bar...on the beach! This quickly became our new home.
Time for us to hit the strip...party time! (And shameless selfie time :-))
The outside of our hotel was really cute, it had lots of little ponds and waterfalls and pretty trees and plants.
The beach in Cancun is sooooooooooo blue, I've never seen such a beautiful blue in my life. We couldn't get over it.
I tried escargot (cooked snails) for the first time in my life. They were actually quite tasty...I polished off my plate.
We hit the town a few times
Life is good.
